Active Aging Communities (AAC) is an ambitious new intervention in the community of older adults (65+ years), designed for fitness and leisure sports environments in cooperation with the University of Odense.

The AAC program is 24 weeks long and focuses on i) improving overall health, physiological fitness (e.g. muscle strength) and physical function (e.g. walking), ii) creating a sense of belonging by increasing the sense of fun and enjoyment during exercise, iii) establishing a sustainable lifestyle in the long term.

The AAC Program moves along four different modules:

1. Educational awareness module

2. Social inclusion and connectivity module

3. Exercise module

4. Behavior change module

The program will help reduce levels of social isolation and exclusion among older people, while promoting the importance of regular physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
